Mathematics is the study of numbers, structures, space and change as well as the application of each of these aspects. It is more than adding and subtracting; it is spatial relationships, measuring and probability. Math can sometimes be boring simply because children find it hard to understand. Making math fun is essential to engage most students in even learning the basics.
By incorporating more games, innovative assessments, and a good attitude we can change the spirit of our classes. Second and Third grade students practiced skills such as addition, multiplication and subtraction by playing Bingo. Also, they rolled soft foam number and operations cubes, and raced to find the answer on the oversize number mat playing the game Math Marks the Spot.
The kids won different prizes and had a lot fun with these activities.
